School of Fashion and the Arts (SOFA) is the Phil’s first specialized fashion college offering a full range of extensive and short programs in design, merchandising and business. It is also the Philippine partner of Europe’s leading Fashion School Instituto Marangoni in Milan, London and Paris. SoFA mounts its first ever graduation show and is the first and only fashion school to participate in Philippine Fashion Week.
I’ve been wanting to learn more about fashion design and marketing lately so when I learned that SOFA will have an open house, I decided that I won’t let this chance to pass by. I think that by going there and inquiring about their subjects will give me a deeper understanding of what are being tackle in each subjects and this will help me decide whether to enroll or not.
Yesterday, SOFA had an open house. I went there with my sister to know more about the details of each subjects and workshops they are offering. First, they discussed an introduction about SOFA – history, people behind SOFA, courses offered and so on. Next is SOFA’s Academic Dean Toby Guggenheimer introduced SoFA’s New Approach to Design Education.
Afterwards, student life and activities were discussed followed by the Open Forum. During Open Forum, one of SOFA’s founder Amina Aranaz-Alunan came to give additional information and answer all the questions we had in mind.
After the discussion, they tour us around the campus and allowed us to take pictures. There were classes on going while we were there so we were able to see what was happening during classes.

Up to now, I’m still not decided whether to enroll or not. No doubt that SOFA is a great school but since I’m working full time, I’m not sure whether my work schedule will fit with their class schedule. So I’m still waiting for their class schedule before I decide. I’m really hoping that it would fit my work schedule so that I could enroll there.
